Bonnie Gordon classes private lessons

I had a great private class Haute Couture which was really neat. Lori Hutchinson of "The Caketress" is an amazing cake decorator and has her own business check out her website it is truly incredible. I learned some simple techniques which i will definately use to make some really fancy cakes. She was very helpful and very willing to share her knowledge and expertise.

My other private lesson was with Jennie she taught me some gumpaste flowers i learned the rose and peony and also the anemone. She was such a nice woman and very talented as well. I would highly recommend the Bonnie Gordon school to anyone Bonnie is a great woman and her school is wonderful.

Bonnie Gordon classes DC3

DC3 was the advanced decorating class. It was a 4 day class in which we were given an "assignment" to do a wedding cake for a couple (not real) and come up with a design. It was an independent project. We had a great instructor Isabella who is an amazing cake decorator. I was given a "harvest" wedding theme. The couple was Canadian and were getting married at a farm and they lived in a cottage on the weekends. Isabella was so instrumental in helping to show me how to marbelize the fondant/gumpaste and paint/color the fruits etc.. which i used on my cake. It is amazing how all the skills we used in the previous classes enabled us to make such amazing cakes. (cakes were actually styrofoam for class purposes) We had great people in our class Renata came all the way from Brazil; Sharon from D.C.; Sean and Carm from Toronto. Great people, fun class!

Bonnie Gordon classes DC2

DC2 taught us some more advanced decorating techniques. We also focussed alot on fondant work i.e., how to color which was actually very involved. I think we spent like 4 hours using paint chips and a color wheel. We also talked about different types of fondants. Also talked about different shaped cakes using styrofoam to use as spacers and cake work. We also talked about painting with food colors and petal/luster dusts.

The first class taught us about making gumpaste, covering a cake with fondant and some simple ways to decorate cakes by using decorating tools. Also how you can use royal icing.


Jaclyn taught the class and she was great. Very patient, and knowledgeable.

Bonnie Gordon School

I arrived in Toronto on November 1 and stayed on a busy main road with lots of shops and tons of places to eat and cute shops. The room i stayed at was very old but very cute and cozy. Staff were great only complaint was the walls were "paperthin" got woken up alot!

The Bonnie Gordon school was about a 45 minute walk from my room but i wanted the exercise instead of taking a cab I saw alot on the way to class everyday cool shops, lots of bakeries and pattiseries.

It was so much fun to go window shopping. The school is small in an old building but i liked the fact that everything is right there i.e., office, class rooms, Bonnie! It was so amazing to see the cakes that people have made and what one can do with the tools that are taught it is quite amazing what the imagination

can produce.
